About CraftyAlien
Hi, I’m Lisa!
(i’m the person who almost put a squirrel in her pocket.)
It’s true. I was on my way to the local yarn store and seriously considering if I should put a actual squirrel in my pocket to color-match that perfect shade of "squirrel-gray."
He politely declined my invitation by running up a tree, but I get it. Not every critter loves long car rides.
When I imagine a new friend, I don't just see a two-dimensional drawing. I see a friend that needs to exist in real life, whether that’s through yarn, felt, a plush toy, or a simple sticker.
from corporate "blegh" to my own universe of cute friends
My story didn’t start in a sunlit studio with a shelf of succulents. It started in a corporate job that felt cold, gray, and pretty bleak. After dealing with some stuff that made me realize life is too short to be confined to cubicles and corporate-speak, I decided to build something that actually felt more like me.
I traded the "blegh" for my own universe of cute friends where personality comes first. As my brand grew and found its orbit, my style matured from those early bright shades into the softer, subdued aesthetic I use today, creating a world where cute critters, gnomes, creatures, and more can all feel at home.
why i do things differently
I believe that if you connect with one of my friends, you should be able to bring them into your world no matter how you choose to create or even if you don’t craft at all. I love knitting, crochet, and working with felt, and I’m always adding more ways to play.
I’ve spent a lot of time "de-cluttering" the craft world so you can just have fun:
- saying goodbye to solid black: I’m in the middle of a massive project to remove solid black from all of my patterns and models. It’s a slow process because I’m recreating every piece from scratch, but I’m doing it to save your eyes. By switching to deep, dark tones that offer better contrast, you can actually see what you're doing and avoid that "where-did-my-stitch-go" headache.
- no more fussy trends: I’ve redesigned my patterns to use reliable, huggable yarns and updated techniques (like the "x" single crochet). You won’t find any discontinued "eyelash yarn" headaches here; just solid, cute designs that stay in style.
- the "all-access" approach: These personalities live everywhere, from my patterns and kits to my merch. If you can’t crochet it, you can stick it on your water bottle.
pull up a floofy chair
I believe life is better when it’s a little more "squishy" and a lot more honest. Whether you’re here to make a felt friend, knit an amigurumi critter, or find a chibi sticker for your water bottle that matches your weirdest succulent, I’m so glad you’re here.
Sink into your favorite floofy chair, grab a snack, and let’s bring some quirky joy into the world together.
